writers. To acknowledge the literary achievements
of African American writers and provide writers
opportunities for advancement.
About BWGA
The Black Writers Guild of America is a
professional organization that supports writers of
various backgrounds and literary genres. BWGA
was established as a network of over 500 creative
literary professionals nationwide. With our diverse
background and extraordinary pool of talent,
BWGA is raising the standard for artistic excellence
and quality representation.
Why BWGA?
BWGA is an organization that provides advocacy,
education and support for writers in a very
competitive industry. Our membership ranges
from authors to playwrights, from writers to
journalists, from screenwriters to columnists, from
agents to distributors and from book clubs to
bookstores. It is a forum for African American
writers to find their voice through public
presentations of their work.
